Cross-sectional imaging
Diagnostic imaging provides the roadmap for many of the conditions treated by interventional radiology. CT and MRI can define vascular anatomy, characterize masses and inflammatory processes, evaluate acute disease, and help determine whether a minimally invasive procedure is appropriate.
CT
Evaluation of chest, abdomen, pelvis, vascular anatomy, acute disease, oncology, postoperative findings, and other cross-sectional indications.
MRI
High-contrast soft-tissue imaging used selectively for vascular, pelvic, musculoskeletal, neurologic, and abdominal questions.
Ultrasound
Real-time evaluation of vascular flow, venous reflux, soft tissues, abdominal organs, and procedural targets.
Vascular Imaging
Duplex ultrasound, CTA, MRA, and angiographic correlation for arterial and venous disease.
Procedural perspective
A procedural radiologist often approaches imaging with an additional question: not only “What is the diagnosis?” but also “Can this be treated through a needle, catheter, drain, embolization, ablation, or other image-guided technique?” That perspective can be useful when reviewing complex vascular, oncologic, postoperative, and interventional cases.
Second-opinion imaging review
Complex imaging may benefit from focused reinterpretation when the clinical question concerns vascular anatomy, embolization planning, prior intervention, post-treatment change, or whether an interventional option exists. Availability and scope depend on the clinical setting and applicable licensure and professional requirements.
Teleradiology
